about

Psych Pop/Folk duo from Finland. Easy going, easy flowing music.
Like two falling stars crossing ways and gravitation set them on a common trajectory, Kati Salo and Asko Keranen share a dream and have started this quiet adventure. The musical result is a delicate, sparse electro-acoustic duet, combining indie pop with folk to interstellar clouds of intimate beauty.

3 Step Andy has melancholy, strength, adventureness, the album itself took an epic voyage.

Rewind to 2013 or so.
Hailing from Haparanda,Lapland, Kati Salo had recorded her only record to date, and moved to Helsinki.
Asko Keränen, also from northern Finland, had been in the over-underground with his band 22-Pistepirkko for over 30 years. Asko got Kati's solo record a few years ago. He had listened to it, a lot. Fell to it.

Time flew by and everything changed in their circles.
The friends were confused when Kati and Asko started following in each other's footsteps.
2015 the legendary 22-PP took a hiatus.
The next thing Kati and Asko knew, they were playing together, fragile, intense, slightly wild versions of folk music.

They bought street amps and trolleys for their bikes, and in the summer of 2016 they played in cafes, on streets, here and there, and recorded the Postcard EP, 4 songs in their now shared apartment

In 2017 they put the microphones back in the living room and started to make an album. They were in Helsinki, in Lapland and in Gambia, with the songs and the home recorder. Some people came along and played additional music to the songs.

After 3 years, 3 Step Andy was ready enough. This was just at the end of 2019....
You see, it took even longer to finally have it out. Kati somehow got stuck in Gambia. The World was stuck with health problems. The Label was stuck somewhere else… But now is the time for 3 Step Andy

This album is also about overcoming fears by doing things your own way, slowly crawling forward by experimenting, finding your own voice. And, more specific for this duo, making the non-singer and the angelic singer a couple that fits well together.

Now let others, maybe you, figure out what else this album might be all about, what stories, influences and references can be heard. Here is 3 Step Andy by Kati & Asko.
